ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part explains about increasing awareness of our brain defaults, our preferences, our senses and our emotions, and then learning to manage them through implementing new or improved behaviours. It discusses "Neuroscience 2" and together with some relevant philosophy focuses on consciousness and how the brain works to handle the spiritual, ethical and value-based aspects of leadership. The part also discusses the importance of the 3Is (Intuition, Instinct and Insight) and ethical philosophy in decision-making and improving our judgement. It examines "Choice" and "For the greater good". With commitment and determination leaders can reach the advanced level of the REAL journey to become Radical, Ethically, Authentic Leaders. In our experience few leaders reach this level. Acting Ethically means not only integrity but a social conscience and a willingness to follow the rules. It means working for the greater good.
