ABSTRACT

This chapter considers subtle but key considerations in designing leadership learning and development towards ethics. It highlights cutting-edge research and practice of how to re-orient the content, delivery, assessment and evaluation, towards infusing greater connectedness and collectiveness in leadership learning and development. One approach of considering how to infuse ethics and responsibility within leadership learning and development practices is to consider where the subtle practices orient the attention of leaders. An international professional services firm that focuses on the development of high-level senior leaders had integrated ethics as a key theme through its training and coaching activities. Indeed, it had ethical approval processes related to every work-based project it supported. The board of a national organisation decided to re-orient itself in how it delivered training to its client base. Originally, it understood itself as providing training and events for a certain professional grouping, that is, human resource professionals at all levels.
