ABSTRACT

This case focuses on coach self-awareness, coach education and coach development. Readers will be able to consider the implications of working with a coach who operates like they were coached and who holds firm beliefs about their role in the coach–athlete relationship based on their own experience. A range of education and development discussions might arise from this case, including coaching philosophy, the coach’s role in developing their athletes, communication and leadership styles, practice design, and creating a motivational sport climate.
