ABSTRACT

The transport industry is a special material production branch. Transport is a direct continuation of the production process in the circulation process. The transport industry is different from other material production branches. Its special characteristic is that on the one hand it reflects the production process while on the other hand it belongs to the realm of circulation. The national economy's demand for freight transport is expressed by the volume of freight turnover. The volume of freight turnover is the volume of work of the transport industry. The effects on the transport distance owing to changes in the composition of freight transported result mainly from changes in the proportions between long-distance freight and short-distance freight in the total freight transported. To ensure the smooth progress of transport work, it is necessary to have sufficient fuel as well as transport means. The need for fuel depends on the gross long-ton-kilometers and the fuel consumption quotas.
