ABSTRACT
Matthew: All of the scenarios we have discussed so far involve conflict and confrontation, and end with bloodshed. We are here at this conference as overseas Chinese scholars not beholden to any government. We have the moral obligation to say what we would like to see by way of process and result. Therefore, lam going to speak, perhaps in a tone of wishful thinking, about what I hope will happen.
