ABSTRACT
The Jiangfengkou Flood Diversion Gate is located at the entrance of the Wu River flood diversion channel along the middle reaches of the Yi River. When the idea of strengthening the management and maintenance of the gate and the dikes was first stressed, some people felt that the gate was exclusively of the Yi River. In 1955, the Jiangfengkou flood diversion gate was built to sluice off excess floodwaters from the Yi River. In order fully to develop the benefits of the flood diversion gate, and on the basis of practical experience, they have strengthened their investigation and research, grasped the hydrological forecasts, and accurately carried out controlled operation of the gate. To provide fertilizer for the fruit trees, the staff and workers not only developed hog raising for manure, but they also used their rest periods to dig out the river sediment to make green compost.
