ABSTRACT

In order to mobilize the whole army in all-out, concrete support of the National Program for Agricultural Development (Draft) for 1956-1967, submitted by the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army drew up the "Implementation Plan for the Army's Participation in and Support of the Agricultural Cooperativization Movement and Agricultural Production". The Plan directs that the whole army should step up training, accelerate the modernization of the army, actively deal a heavy blow to the harassing activities of Chiang Kai-shek's forces, make active preparation for liberating Taiwan, resolutely suppress counterrevolutionaries, and vigilantly safeguard socialist construction of the motherland. Apart from these tasks, all army units should utilize the intervals between fighting and training to join the people of the whole country in the struggle to perform each of the tasks outlined in the National Program for Agricultural Development.
