ABSTRACT
In September, after Chairman Mao had inspected several provinces of the Yangtze River region and returned to the capital, he said, "The organization of the militia is very good and ought to be broadened". All the comrades who were present unanimously agreed that the implementation of the program of "everyone a Soldier" and "organizing the militia in a big way" is a great realization of the military thought of Chairman Mao on people's war, and an important measure in liberating 600 million Chinese people for carrying out the great socialist construction and the transition to communism. In organizing the militia, every locality has utilized fully the experience of our Party in building the People's Liberation Army and in carrying out the method of leading mass movements. The militia can strengthen the people's courage and spirit, raise their confidence, and destroy the enemy's spirit.
