ABSTRACT
The relationship between officers and men in the Chinese People's Liberation Army is a relationship of equality among ordinary workers. In establishing the relationship of equality between officers and men, the most important point was to destroy the idea of bourgeois privileges in the cadres' ideology and to set up the idea of communist equality in its stead, thoroughly getting rid of all bureaucratic airs. The phenomenon of cadres going down to the companies to work as soldiers is not only changing the spiritual appearance of the cadres themselves but is also promoting the growth of the idea of communist equality among the soldiers. Ideas of inequality exist not only among some cadres but also in the minds of some soldiers. Cadres going down to the companies to work as soldiers has an even more profound meaning. It serves to prepare conditions for the transition to communism.
