ABSTRACT
Fine to say he had come from the province of Yamato; but no one knew where that province of Yamato was. The province of Yamato, like the province of Aki or of Hitachi, to the people here was just some faraway place. What was more, the man from that province of Yamato did not know himself if there was in fact such a province. Anyway, a man came here from somewhere.
