ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the results of hypotheses' testing. The first results are the effects of the suprapersonal environment characteristics on residential satisfaction, Positive Affect (PA), and Negative Affect (NA). The second results are the effects of the characteristics of elder vulnerability on residential satisfaction, PA, and NA. The chapter examines the relationships between objective neighborhood poverty type and each of the perceived neighborhood characteristics. Then, results are presented regarding the interaction effects of suprapersonal environment and elder vulnerability characteristics on PA and NA. The chapter focuses on the indirect effects of the predictor variables on the outcomes of interest. It also provides an overview of the results for the direct and indirect effects of the suprapersonal environment and elder vulnerability characteristics on residential satisfaction, PA, and NA outcomes. For residential satisfaction, the predictors comprising elder vulnerability are: perceived social support; received social support; dwelling age; and tenure.
