ABSTRACT

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is indicated for the treatment of atrophic acne scars: box scars, ice pick and rolling scars with an involvement of 30% of the face area. HA is a glycosaminoglycan composed of alternating D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine monosaccharide residue. The effect is achieved because the lift-thread insertion follows geometric traction where nothing is left to chance, and in fact the treatment requires, in addition to a certain manual skill, a flawless knowledge of anatomy. Threads are inserted subcutaneously through a micro-hole, along precise lines of skin tension, by means of a thin needle or a needle-pipe blunt tip, exerting a slight traction to lift the relaxed tissues. Platelet-rich plasma is an autologous preparation of platelets in concentrated plasma full of growth factors, chemokines, and cytokines. The Polydioxanone is a polymer of polylactic p-dioxanone, a bioabsorbable material and antimicrobial already used in surgery and biocompatible with the dermis.
