ABSTRACT

This chapter explains four case studies. The first case study explores the steps involved in creating a multi-row panorama of the Milky Way over Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. The next step is to choose the date and time for the shoot. The months of April, May and June are the best for capturing the complete arch of the Milky Way in the northern hemisphere. The panorama head described was used to help make the constituent images for this panorama. The next case study describes the process of creating a light-painted composite in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in California. The third case study explores the process of creating a holy-grail time-lapse over Ancestral Puebloan structures in Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico. The final case study is a complete multi-project session covering three separate nights of imaging in Arches National Park in Utah.
