ABSTRACT

The work shows the design, the manufacturing and machining trials of magnesium-based hybrid parts. The design is made taking into account the next criteria: ease for manufacturing of the workpieces, security during the trials and the cost; besides of the characteristics of the available machines and equipment for doing the tests. The workpieces manufacturing is made following the design planes established previously. In addition, as an example of application, trials were carried out with milling workpieces. Concretely, with one formed by a rectangular steel insert of UNS G11170 located on a basis of magnesium alloy UNS M11917.
