ABSTRACT

This chapter offers conceptual models types of technology for usage in society. The determination for the application of specific innovations by government to achieve deliberative E-Governance ends may also be guided by conceptualizations such as the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) and Web Trust. TAM consists of two interrelated factors that guide individuals in determining whether to accept the application of a given technological innovation. TAM has also been applied to topics such as understanding the impact of societal perceptions on the rate of diffusion of green technology in the field of transportation and in gauging attitudes for technology use in universities as applied to "dropout notification and return to school system". The Diffusion of Innovation theory and the Web Trust model provide further insight regarding how accepted innovative means proliferate throughout society and the role that trust plays in consumer–vendor online interactions.
