ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses two case examples and then introduces a model that isolates the influence and potential impacts of leadership on the digital transformation of supply chains. The changes in operations, people, and technology required to become an integrated, demand-driven supply chain aligned to organizational strategy are unlikely to be made without leadership as a catalyst. Transformational leadership, specifically the articulation of a digital vision and strategy, will be required for firms attempting to execute new integrated business models. The impacts of the digital supply chain on people in organizations are significant. New skills as well as the capability of being data-savvy collaborators are necessary. New leadership and talent development approaches are suggested that will accelerate these shifts and allow organizations to unlock the potential of the digital supply chain.
