ABSTRACT

The dynamics of providing training in the field of logistics and transport reflects the general trend which, over recent years, has marked the Italian education and training system. The lack of co-ordination of the above initiatives has necessitated a complete reorganisation of the system, so as to ensure functional effectiveness in the employment market and conformity to European standards. The training of the Maritime transport technician centres on the acquisition of knowledge and working methods for organising transport, through studies allowing the professional to also enter the inter-modal transport sector. The training division traditionally identifies the business area of managerial training and incorporates courses of both the 'custom' and 'catalogue' type. University diplomas have tried to bridge the gap in the first phase of alignment of the Italian university system to that of other European Union countries. A fundamental condition for success remains related to the preservation of close links between training activity and that of research and consultancy.
