Transition in the post-socialist countryside: The restructuring of rural settlements in Hungary and Russian Karelia

Transition in different post-socialist countries varies both regionally and locally. Rural transition has a particular role to play in the process of postsocialist transition; the reorganisation of rural production and the household economy are of great importance to this post-socialist transition. Rural issues also have a significant role in the future development. They are essential for instance in the integration process of the European Union and the international development of utilising resources.
