ABSTRACT

Teens have come to dominate society in many ways. They have their own movies. Teen gross-out comedies are one of the largest draws at the box office. Teens shop with an attitude that is unique. In particular what sets them apart from the adult shopping demographic is that they usually have a surplus of time. Teen shoppers have patience because, unlike harried adults who are time-pressed, they have lots of leisure time for shopping. Teens are very brand aware and this is simply because the brand names provide a vehicle that creates an instant sense of group identity. The teen demographic is important. Most stores seem to carry clothes that are overwhelmingly directed to teens. Adults shopping in many mall stores and even large department stores are made to feel old, and out of place, as 'young' fashions and styles dominate the displays. Food is the other big area where the teen demographic spends its own money.
