ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the 7FE Project Framework. It explains why strategy requires a business operating model, and then business capabilities to support it. Business capability usually comprises the three aspects of people, process and technology. A brief explanation of the ten phases and three essentials of the framework is provided. Business leaders need to establish an appropriate environment and high-level guidelines on how the organization's strategy is to be executed. The devised strategy will suggest a number of possible Business Operating Models (BOMs) to management. The BOM selected must be an appropriate model for the organization, and is the responsibility of executive management to create. The People component will include organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, reward structures and human resource policies. The Process component requires several capabilities, governance and frameworks. The Technology component is constrained and driven by the Business Operating Model.
