ABSTRACT

The three essentials— business process management (BPM) project management, people change management and leadership,—are critical for each BPM activity and should be considered during each of the phases. The essentials required for any BPM activity are: project management, people change management and leadership. Without the three essentials of project management, people change management and leadership being an integral part of a BPM activity the likelihood of success is significantly diminished and certainly risk is much higher. An essential is an aspect of a BPM activity that is considered extremely important, in fact crucial, to ensuring the success of the project, but it does not occur as a sequential activity or at a certain time within a BPM activity. An essential is considered to be fundamental to the success of the entire project, and an aspect that permeates and occurs throughout every phase. Essentials are the foundations upon which any successful BPM activity rests.
