ABSTRACT

Agencies working with young people in Brighton and Hove had a great deal of knowledge about adolescent street socialising. In the introduction we discussed the influences of their perspectives on the way issues of community safety and young people are perceived. In this chapter we consider the information agencies had about street socialising and also at their views regarding the behaviour and motivations of young people at the gatherings. Different agencies had rather different viewpoints on the behaviour of the young people of course, and we must explore this later point in this book.
