ABSTRACT

DC/DC conversion technology is an important area of research and has industrial applications. Since the last century, the DC/DC conversion technique has been extensively developed and there are now many new topologies of DC/DC converters. DC/DC converters are now widely used in communication equipment, cell phones and digital cameras, computer hardware circuits, dental apparatus, and other industrial applications. Since there are a lot of DC/DC converters, we have sorted them into six generations: first-generation (classical/traditional), second-generation (multi-Quadrant), third-generation (switched-component), fourth-generation (soft-switching), fifth-generation (synchronous rectifier), and sixth-generation (multi-element resonant power) DC/DC converters.
