ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the fundamental elements that make motion design effective. Motion design projects blend visual and audible elements together to produce an emotional impact on an audience, leaving them inspired to think about the message being communicated to them. Design elements such as line, shape, color, and value are used together to form a composition. Lines are the most basic element of design. Lines provide a visual pathway for the viewer's eye to follow. This is often referred to as leading lines in a frame. Leading lines help the audience find the center of interest. Motion design is a mixture of several key ingredients. Design and animation principles are crucial elements in communicating messages using both space and time. Cinematic storytelling analyzes camera shots in terms of distance, angle, and movement to effectively create an emotional response from an audience.
