ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at Final Cut Pro's animation capabilities. It provides usage of the Transform function to scale, rotate, and position the image. The chapter also looks at Anchor Point behavior and how it affects an image's motion. It explains about cropping the image using the Trim function to resize the image, the Crop function to reframe the clip, and the Distort function to reshape images. The chapter provides ideas to create both straight and curved motion paths. It also looks at different ways of making basic motion effects, including using the Ken Burns crop effect to create complex motion paths. The chapter shows to make split screen and picture-in-picture effects, and to create a multilayer animation. One advantage the Ken Burns function has over the straight Crop animation is that it has easing as the standard, while the Crop animation has no easing and is always linear, and there is no option to change this.
