ABSTRACT

Importing media into FCP is a crucial part of working with the application. The libraries used by FCP allow great flexibility, perhaps more than many people realize. FCP has far fewer preferences than legacy versions of the application or many other applications. Importing preferences sets the behavior of how clips are handled when they are brought into the application. The first selection in Import is whether to import into the assigned library location or to leave the files in place. Media management is controlled by the Library Properties in the Inspector. Customizing the keyboard is pretty straightforward. If there's a function one want to add, search for it in the search box in the upper right. The import process in FCP is as simple and straightforward as it could possibly be. FCP will import from many different types of cameras and will work with many different types of video, audio, and still files into FCP.
