ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at working with sound in Final Cut Pro (FCP). The principal reason video and audio are so often cut separately is that people see and hear quite differently. To overlap and layer sound, the simplest way is to use Split Edits, which are incredibly easy to create in FCP, as the application flows the clips around each other. One of the features for editing sound in FCP is that one can do it with great precision, down to subframe accurate detail. In doing so, he/she can switch the Dashboard display to show subframe amounts. There are a few effects that can be used specifically to control levels. Logic effects give him/her more controls and more presets and more options. They usually have a graphical interface as well as sliders for the parameters.
