ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book on safeguarding mindfulness in school and higher education is a contribution to our evolving knowledge. It focuses on important role of teachers as mindful stewards in safeguarding mindfulness in school and higher education through their attunement to self, their vulnerable students and learning activities and environment. The book explains how people with particular vulnerabilities and sensitivities can experience mindfulness and need to exercise caution when introducing mindfulness to some students with particular conditions and in certain situations. It provides range of alternative creative and grounding activities and adjustments to existing activities to assist teachers in titrating intensity of mindfulness activities that may otherwise bring about adverse experiences in vulnerable young people. The book discusses that case study examples and vignettes reflecting work in progress were provided from higher education/professional learning, primary and secondary school settings to provide springboard for further practice.
