ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the demonstration effect of the European Union as a whole, which is an important part of the Europeans' international role and image, a distinctive feature of Europe different from other continents, and a major basis for European countries to launch various forms of international interventions. The reason why the Europeans have a strong desire for international intervention is largely because they are quite confident about the integrity and solidarity of "Europe", based on their cognition that the European Union is the advanced and mature form of regional integration in the world. In comparison, China has a big gap with the EU in the promotion of regional integration. As an emerging power in the international community, China is a latecomer and learner to the international system, still at the initial stage of learning and adaptation; therefore, China as a whole is still far from being a leader or organizer of regional integration.
