ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the specific approaches to the innovation of the principle of non-interference. Over the past 30 years, namely the period of reform and opening-up, China has always upheld the principle of non-alignment, and formulated the well-known foreign policy of independence and peaceful development. The principle of non-alignment did not help China associate with a large number of friendly countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, which were attached to the Western camp or the Soviet bloc nor did willing to confront the two groups, and China's new stance make China an important friend to them. The chapter links between the new directions of China's proactive diplomacy and the new target of balanced development in China, enabling the consistency of our future creative involvement in African affairs with the new trend in domestic reforms and development. It shows differences and debates in conferences between Chinese and African scholars, think tanks, and media, beyond the expectation of some Chinese scholars.
