ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some case studies taken from China's diplomatic practice since the end of the Cold War, have shown the "creative involvement" of Chinese diplomats and leaders in various fields of foreign relations. They are mediation in Myanmar, assistance to Sudan, Fu Ying approach, strategic dialogue, leveraging ASEAN, strategizing the Taiwan strait, North Korea nuclear mechanism and evacuation from North Africa. The Chinese government hoped that Myanmar could realize its political stability, boost its economy, and achieve lasting peace as quickly as possible. In addition to being the bridge and providing consular protection, China's diplomatic services have made a lot of efforts to help the Sudanese government to get out of its diplomatic dilemma and return to the international community. In recent years, Chinese diplomatic departments have carefully designed and vigorously promoted a series of high-level strategic dialogues with the world's major countries, which is essentially a kind of "creative involvement" worth discussing and reviewing.
