ABSTRACT

348The Indo-Gangetic plain is the fertile land of India, the plain supports the highest population densities depending upon purely agro-based economy on the other hand Central India represented forest rich area. The local tribals of both these areas are dependent on the forest resources for food, medicine, timber, gum, fiber, ornamental, sacred plants, fodder, oil, etc. These plant resources also support socio-economic development of the local tribal communities. The aim of the present review is to present the list of useful plants other than medicinal and wild edible plants of Indo-Gangetic plain and Central India and also spread awareness about the sustainable use of the biodiversity of the region.
