ABSTRACT

The universality of human nature is the epistemological discovery place for further metaphysical explanations. If the arguments for the universality of human nature are persuasive, then further metaphysical explanations are necessary to understand how it is possible that universal human nature can know necessary truths. The foregoing may differ from the concept of Innate Ideas because it does not seem evident from the notion of Innate Ideas why Innate Ideas should be universal and why Innate Ideas should correspond to the nature of the universe. The concept of Innate Ideas appears in some respects to be an arbitrary solution. Why should the Deity implant certain Innate Ideas in human beings? What then is the connection between these Innate Ideas and the world? When Innate Ideas are better understood as the necessary consciousness of a universal human nature understanding the universal and necessary laws of the universe, an explanation been furnished for why necessity can be known in the first place.
