ABSTRACT

As we saw in the previous chapter, the question ‘Who am I?’, and its answer (‘Om Shanti, I am a peaceful soul’), is of paramount importance to the Brahma Kumaris, providing the ontological basis for both everyday life and metaphysical speculation. Going further, one may argue that the goal of Raja Yoga is the (re)definition and (re)construction of the individual’s identity on the basis of its ‘true’, forgotten characteristics. To this end, it provides knowledge and a set of metaphysical tools to affect this change from stress, negativity and body-consciousness to ‘stress-free living’, positivity and soul-consciousness.
