ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with the effectiveness of management training and development programmes, especially when related to expected results and benefits in Small and Micro Businesses (SMB). It presents the question: what is the Administrative Training for SMB financed by Donors and whether it has resulted in the development of SMB administration. The chapter focuses on Training Programs in the Gaza Strip (GS), and explores the role of the Small and Micro Enterprise Training (SMET) Program financed by UNRWA in developing SMB administration. SMB have come to play a critical role in the economy of the GS. The introduction of this SMET program was the first sustained effort to provide continuous adult education to the SB community in the GS. In recent years management training and development in the developed countries has become an increasingly important part of organisation life. It has become a separate function that contributes to human resource training and development and to organisation change and development.
