The book has argued at length that making teaching a career worth having can only be achieved by treating teachers as autonomous professionals and recognising that they are naturally inclined to develop and improve if given the right challenge and support. The summary asserts that policies and practices have widened the teacher gap to a chasm and outlines what school-leaders, policymakers, and teacher-training courses can and should do to tackle the crisis.
