ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about Shoreh and Roya who met at the American College of Switzerland and became close friends. They continued their friendship while living in Iran and later in the US, where they get together with Azy, Shoreh's former college roommate, regularly. Shoreh was a finicky eater as a child and continues to be so to this day. She eats a lot of fruit and vegetables. Even when healthy food was not as fashionable as it is today, Shoreh was health conscious. Shoreh carries on with her story but appears preoccupied with the question of why her parents had sent her to boarding school. Despite the sexual revolution of the 1970s and the relative freedom found in college, most of the Iranian girls continued to be sexually reserved. In addition to her aptitude for languages, Shoreh is also an extremely creative artist with avant-garde ideas, but has not managed to achieve the success she has expected of herself.
