ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book takes readers on a reflective journey to understand and to learn about childhood experiences of foreign children in boarding schools and to witness their resolve as they ventured into the outside world as adults. The stories provide a detailed and vivid landscape of everyday life at boarding school, weekend schedule, activities and holiday routine, each with the storyteller's unique perspective and the meanings attributed to it. As such, the stories were often full of emotional and intellectual contradictions. They presented only partial truths, as stories inevitably do. The book focuses on storytelling as a fundamental human activity that not only offers potentially valuable means of eliciting data but also allows for informed criticism of conventional thinking and the development of new paradigms.
