ABSTRACT

Roya met Dory in Silver Spring, Maryland, at a coach training weekend. As the only Persians in a small group of people, their connection was immediate. They subsequently remained in touch and shared their coaching experiences. When Roya told Dory about her impending book, Dory revealed that she and her sisters had also been sent to boarding school in England and, coincidentally, for a short time had been at Roya's school. Marjaneh, who completed her graduate studies in social psychology at the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge, focuses her work with the Omid Foundation on supporting women who suffer domestic violence. She lives in London with her husband but spends half her time in Iran at her foundation, while the other half she spends travelling raising the much-needed funds. Under her leadership, the foundation has thrived. She does not have children of her own and considers these girls to be her children.
