ABSTRACT

How to manage and maintain aging bridges becomes a critical issue in both engineering research and practice. This paper presents an integrated bridge management system for tracking and assessing the structural condition of bridges. First, the system supported by JAVA software platform collected model-based data of bridges. Second, the authority management and task dispatch were established for transport agencies. Next, the interactive 4D models of the bridges with structural information and history record of multiple data can be visualized. 3D panorama created by special cameras provided the surrounding environment of each bridge in website browser. Furthermore, inspectors can use mobile apps to capture and update bridge damages. It is found that the interactive 4D models can facilitate data sharing and avoid the barriers from other Building Information Modeling software. The developed system can lead to a more automated and powerful practice for bridge management and similar applications in bridge management.
