ABSTRACT

The paper presents review of monitoring methods applied in bridge engineering as well as proposal of a unified classification of the monitoring procedures - based on suggested standardized criteria. Implementation of the monitoring tools in Bridge Management Systems is also presented. State of the art related to practical applications of such systems is illustrated and expected development trends in this area are discussed. Proposed solutions are based on results of the European international research projects as well as on long-term experience in design and implementation of the Bridge Management Systems in Poland.
