ABSTRACT

This study proposes a visualization method for a cross section of RC structure in which condition of the reinforced bar (rebar) is healthily composite to the concrete or corrosively exfoliated from that. Visualization is based on Kirchhoff linearized inverse scattering method (K-LISM), and the rebar condition is emphasized by parasitic discrete wavelet transform (P-DWT) in its imaging process. An original filter included in P-DWT is developed and oriented to extract the information of rebar condition. Scattered waves from the rebar-concrete interface are obtained by UT the pitch-catch mode from the top surface of the concrete specimen. Scattered waves are filtered by P-DWT developed from the waveform measured from the exfoliated rebar; then, they are processed with K-LISM. The reconstructed images enable to differentiate between corrosively exfoliated rebar and healthy rebar.
