ABSTRACT

This present a series of bridge condition assessment methods using innovative nondestructive testing tech-niques (i.e. microwave interferometry radar IBIS-S and 3D optical measurement system ARAMIS). Using a timber bridge in Australia as a case study (i.e. Eltham Rail Trestle Bridge), it demonstrates that IBIS-S can ef-fectively capture the dynamic behaviour of the bridge under train loading, such as natural frequencies, maxi-mum vertical and horizontal displacements, while ARAMIS optical measurement system has the capability for accurately measuring the deformation of the critical members of the bridge.
