ABSTRACT
In what follows we analyse whether, and in which way, EU initiatives have impacted on welfare systems, and we discuss the effects of the EMU in connection with other initiatives. It is not our purpose to pass judgement on the possible positive or negative effects of these initiatives, nor, indeed, do we agree on that matter ourselves.
