ABSTRACT

The evidence-based research field documenting the benefits of reflective, therapeutic and expressive writing has grown significantly over the last 20 years. From the seminal and ongoing trauma-based research approach of expressive writing pioneered through the work of Pennebaker (2013) at the University of Texas to the work of King (2001), who went on to demonstrate the significant gains and benefits of writing about the good stuff, the research is plentiful. It offers access to a fertile space in which to engage with reflective writing that contains therapeutic benefits both for the coach supervisee and the coach supervisor.
