ABSTRACT

You need to tailor your presentation to meet your goals and suit your aims, the audience, the topic and the context. You can also use your personal style, and the skills of others, if relevant. This section helps you think about what will be most appropriate. 25.3.1 Using your personal style

Effective presentations often make use of the presenter’s personal style and characteristics. It is important to identify and build on your strengths, and to recognise and allow for your weaknesses (eg i f you are a terrible joke teller it may be better to avoid jokes; i f you are very good at visuals, you could emphasise visual aids). The first stage is to identify your strengths and weaknesses. The second is to identify what to do about them. You could refer back to Section 25.1.1 in thinking about possible strengths/weaknesses. If you have difficulty in thinking of ideas and solutions you could ask friends or tutors.
