ABSTRACT

The government should improve the quality and reliability of the civil servants concerned and drastically speed up the reimbursement delays in order to ease working capital conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The collapse of domestic consumption was insignificant for a nearly fully export-oriented SME like Lorn Thai. Regarding export market potentials, Lorn Thai has started to develop its own brand named 'Petit Ours Brun'. It covers infant apparel and accessories that meet the domestic demand both in design and style. The foreign parent company of Lorn Thai is not a manufacturer itself, but a trading firm having identified an interesting oversea production niche upstream of its existing clients' demand for trading services. Throughout the crisis, the company has been able to identify its medium-term strategy together with its French parent firm. Lorn Thai specializes in infant apparel, primarily exported to France. Designs and styles are provided by the parent importing company, under the prestigious Christian Dior brand name.
