ABSTRACT

The perception, establishment and the living out of Order is a matter of the perception, establishment and the living out of that relation, the community of union, between God and humanity which Christ has forged out and through the Spirit has given. To the furtherance of this general modus vivendi, Christ has made available particular gifts by the Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are centred on those signs and seals which have been ordained to unite us to Christ, and beyond that, on Christ Himself who has procured these gifts for us and dispenses them in the relation which He bears to the Holy Spirit. Lancelot Andrewes does not flee reality in any sort of false mysticism. Rather, he sees truth anchored firmly in the existences and realities of the temporal/spatial dimension, their whole being bearing witness with and to the 'bloud of Christ by the hand of the Spirit'.
