ABSTRACT

This edition is based on both the Bodleian and the Folger copies of Moderatus. These are from a single impression. It adopts a conservative approach and silently emends only a very few typographical errors. Variations in spelling even where these are very eccentric, and occasional duplication of words (where the sense is still good) are retained. There has been no attempt to reproduce the typography of the black letter original where proper names, verses and chapter headings are more or less consistently set in an italic font. Original punctuation has been retained throughout with the exception of the question mark where the modern symbol has been used. Marks of abbreviation have all been expanded.
