ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we present the results of standard earnings functions. The functions were estimated for each country after deflating the earnings of each year by the consumer price index (so that our observations are earnings at prices of the base year 1992), and then pooling the data for all the years. The results are given in the series of tables in Appendix 1 to this chapter, and the notes in Appendix 2 describe the variables and the specific problems (if any) for them in the country concerned. The dependant variable is the log of monthly earnings per worker (including allowances were available). The mean values of the variables used are set out in the first table of Appendix 1.
